ABOUT

Ghislain Thibault is an Assistant Professor of Communication Studies at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario. He was a SSHRC Postdoctoral Fellow at the Department of the History of Science at Harvard University from 2010-2011. He holds a PhD in Communication Studies from the Université de Montréal, where he was a member of both the SNS lab and the Radical Empiricism Workshop. He completed his dissertation “Éthéréalisation: amorces d’une contre-histoire” (2010) under Thierry Bardini’s supervision, a dissertation at the confluence of cultural history, philosophy of techniques and communication. He has co-authored with T. Bardini “Éther 2.0: Révolutions sans-fil,”  published in the Canadian Journal of Communication, and has given a number of public talks using genealogical approches to technology and cyberculture in general. His current research project is a media archaeology of wireless power transmission (focusing on Nikola Tesla’s experiments in the late 19th century to today’s wireless charging technologies).

Etherealisation.com is a territory for these many projects to etherealize.
